關於PEQ政策的問題

猴君不好意思本人華語不太好,想請教您一些問題,謝謝!

I'm a 21-year-old Chinese descent from Singapore who is on the 3rd year of a Bachelor's in Hong Kong, and I'm planning to move to Quebec via the PEQ programme. I have some rudiments of French, so I don't think it's gonna be an obstacle for me.

Previously on your wonderful page and the official website of Quebec immigration department I've seen that the PEQ policy has been extended to 2019.

Since I think I can't start an eligible program of study for the PEQ path until Fall 2018, I wonder whether this extension is valid until 31st March 2019, or starting from 1st April 2019 and valid until 31st Mar 2020 instead?

I got absolutely no idea about that, so please help me out. Merci beaucoup!!

Hi jckylun,

Thank you for following us.

First step first, I'd tell you that as a newcomer, it would be extremely helpful if you have basic knowledge of French.

Secondly,Quebec has only extended the PEQ policy to March 31  2018, however the MIDI(Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion) has also launched a new policy accompanied by a five-year action strategy from 2016-2021.

The MIDI didn't disclose any further information regarding PEQ, but I believe they're working on a new system that will replace the old one. It could be Quebec version of express entry. The methods used may vary, but the principle is the same. So keep learning French, that'll make your life here easier.

Thanks for you help, Yannick!

I'm so panic as the new system's keeping such a low profile that no one happens to know what is it look like and as for the time of implementation. What's more, the PEQ does not require interviews as stated but apparently MIDI broke the rule lately. Do you think it's about time the interviews stopped? I mean that's absolu

I'd like to do a 1-yr master's or the intensive vocational training course which lasts for like 12-13 months to get it done ASAP. Do you mind sharing some information of the intensive vocational training courses with me?

My email is s115290a1234@gmail.com , much appreciated!!

MIDI has cancelled some interviews recently and nobody knows what's that supposed to mean. Too many things are up in the air. But I'm 100%  sure they want more international students to settle in Quebec.

The intensive vocational training courses will be offered aperiodically. So it's hard to give you an exact date.

Btw, we recruit students for all school boards in greater montreal area for free. Let me know if you need anything. We would be happy to help!

Just finished the 5 years plan mentioned above. FYR, I've spotted the indication(hopefully) that the PEQ lasts at least until 2021. I'm not sure if this is a valid indication but to me at this moment it's definitely a good news.

Btw for the PRTQ stream, is it we are to be granted a CSQ as long as we reached the threshold of scores, or does it rather pick the candidates scored the highest? Thanks!!

Yes, we noticed that good news before and we have strong confidence that it would be more smoother for foreign students to stay. The thing is that nobody can confirm they won't change the rules while you're playing the game. The only thing that won't be changed is French language requirement.

 PRTQ is more simpler than Express Entry. They issue CSQs as long as the applicants reached the threshold of scores. However,the following applications will receive priority processing:
  1. applications submitted under the Programme de l’expérience québéboise (PEQ - Québec experience program);
  2. applications from candidates who have an employment offer validated by the Ministère;
  3. applications from candidates who earned points under the factor Area of training.

That's true. But I'll believe the official sayings. If unfortunately it fails I can still apply via PRTQ or later on the EOI. I'll keep learning French. Thanks for you help!! You've really helpful.

Oh btw any recommendations for a 1-year master's degree in Quebec? I can't find any... And MBA's require more than a degree. Thanks!!

awesome! I think I'm more into the vocational training cause I want to learn a skill like automobile mechanics. Do you actually think there's a big demand for automobile mechanics there in Quebec or Canada? And do u think they'll slash the DVS away from the eligible qualifications?

So can I say that the for the demanded occupations,
The higher the demand is, the more points awarded on the Area of Traininng list? Like automobile mechanics get a 9 pt via regular PRTQ(If I'm correct)

And as of today, is it basically safe if one attends the french courses from a tertiary institute like Concordia, McGill...? For students who finished the french courses offered by a uni, is it rare for them to be asked for an interview? Thanks!

I'd say, no one is 100% safe according to what MIDI have done to those students who attended the French courses offered by secondary institutes .  It doesn't matter whether you went to McGill or EMSB. You'll be safe as long as you reached B2 level in French. That's why I keep telling them to continue learning French.

Up till now,I haven't received any interview reports from those students who went through the French courses offered by unis.

Great. How long does it take to finish all the required french courses to attain a level B2 in both Spoken and Listening module? Thanks

Usually, it takes approximately 8-12 months to achieve B2.  Considering you're English native,  might be quicker than that.

Fair enough. You know what, following immigration news renders me frustrated sometimes just by seeing all those irresponsible migration agents in China cheating on people as well as MIDI resulting in issues. I truly did tonnes of research about the PEQ path. And thanks to your page that's made my life a lot easier. Now I'm assured that I'm able to apply for a CSQ way before 2021. Thank you so much!

Hi, it's me again...

First of all, I saw in the 2017-19 immigration plan by MIDI that they want to ensure that the proportion of candidates with in-demand training who are selected in the skilled worker subclass is at least 70% by 2019. I know the word "in-demand training" means the ones on the list. Meanwhile, the news here on http://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/quebec-funds-program-to-encourage-foreign-students-to-stay reports that they want international students trained merely in any discipline and they want some 9000 students to stay, a triple of that in 2015. What apparently a contradiction! What is, by the way, the "new program" that costs $1.6mn to help retaining international students, is it the PEQ?

Secondly, I see "Economics (Bach.)" listed in the on section C of the list of training areas that worth extra points under PRTQ. But if they actually need economic graduates how come they don't list Economics (Master's Degree) on it too? It's so weird.
